In the Footsteps of John & Paul

Follow the spread of the Gospel message as we journey to a number of the seven churches of Revelation – Ephesus, Smyrna, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea. We then travel the beautiful Aegean Sea to arrive at the Isle of Patmos, where John received the vision of Revelation. Continuing on to Greece we follow the footsteps of Paul through Philippi, Thessaloniki, Veria (Berea), Athens and Corinth. One of the highlights of this tour will also be a visit to Meteora – the monasteries in the sky.

Day 15
Izmir, Turkey

After arriving at Izmir airport we will be met by our bus and taken to our hotel ready for the start of our Revelation tour tomorrow. Overnight: Izmir, Turkey.

Day 16
Smyrna, Sardis & Philadelphia

This morning we start with Smyrna (located in modern Izmir), the poor and persecuted church which refused to worship the Roman Emperor. Next is Sardis, with its massive Temple of Artemis, the white marble Royal Road, gymnasium and synagogue. Philadelphia is our last stop today, the church of brotherly love that endured patiently. Overnight: Pamukkale, Turkey.

Day 3
Hierapolis, Laodicea & Ephesus

We travel to Tiberius on the Sea of Galilee. On the way we visit Caesarea, Megiddo, Mt Carmel and the Israeli city of Haifa. Overnight – Tiberius.

Day 4
Ferry to Isle of Patmos

We start today with a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, then we visit the Mount of Beatitudes, the traditional site where Jesus said to Peter ‘on this rock I will build my church’, Bethsaida and Capernaum. Late this afternoon those who choose can be baptised or re-baptised in the river Jordon at Yardinet. Overnight – Tiberius.

Day 5
Isle of Patmos

After worship on Mt Tabor (where Jesus was transfigured), we visit Cana, Nazareth, En Dor, and Nain, before continuing south and arriving in that jewelled city – Jerusalem. Overnight – Jerusalem.

Day 6
Athens & Philippi

Our first stop today is for worship at the Field of the Shepherds in Bethlehem. After visiting the Church of the Nativity we visit David’s Tomb, Room of the Last Supper and then have some time for shopping in the Arab Bazaar in Jerusalem. As today is Friday we visit Western Wall at sunset for opening the Sabbath with our Jewish friends. Overnight – Jerusalem.

Day 7
Thessaloniki & Veria

This morning we worship with fellow believers at the SDA church in Jerusalem. In the afternoon we visit the Mount of Olives and then take the route that Jesus took as he rode the colt into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. Our walk finishes at the Garden of Gethsemane. After dinner and the close of the Sabbath we have a special treat – the spectacular outdoor Jerusalem Sound & Light Show that traces the history of Jerusalem through the ages. Overnight – Jerusalem.

Day 8
Meteora & Delphi

Today we journey south of Jerusalem to Qumran, the site where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. We then head to Masada, a Jewish stronghold where a community took their lives rather than give into Rome. After that we take time to swim in the Dead Sea. On the way home we pass through En Gedi and Jericho.

Day 9
Athens & Corinth

First up we head to the Israel Museum, visit the Shrine of the Book, and then head to the old City of David where we view archaeological sites from the time of Solomon and walk through Hezekiah’s tunnel.

Day 10
Head for Home!

A highlight of our tour today – we visit the old city of Jerusalem, walking over the Temple Mount, visiting the Pool of Bethesda, following the way of the Cross, (the Via Dolorosa – the pathway to the site of the crucifixion). We finish at the Garden Tomb site with a communion service.
