We start today with a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, then we visit the Mount of Beatitudes, the traditional site where Jesus said to Peter ‘on this rock I will build my church’, Bethsaida and Capernaum. Late this afternoon those who choose can be baptised or re-baptised in the river Jordon at Yardinet. Overnight – Tiberius.
After worship on Mt Tabor (where Jesus was transfigured), we visit Cana, Nazareth, En Dor, and Nain, before continuing south and arriving in that jewelled city – Jerusalem. Overnight – Jerusalem.
Our first stop today is for worship at the Field of the Shepherds in Bethlehem. After visiting the Church of the Nativity we visit David’s Tomb, Room of the Last Supper and then have some time for shopping in the Arab Bazaar in Jerusalem. As today is Friday we visit Western Wall at sunset for opening the Sabbath with our Jewish friends. Overnight – Jerusalem.
This morning we worship with fellow believers at the SDA church in Jerusalem. In the afternoon we visit the Mount of Olives and then take the route that Jesus took as he rode the colt into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. Our walk finishes at the Garden of Gethsemane. After dinner and the close of the Sabbath we have a special treat – the spectacular outdoor Jerusalem Sound & Light Show that traces the history of Jerusalem through the ages. Overnight – Jerusalem.
Today we journey south of Jerusalem to Qumran, the site where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. We then head to Masada, a Jewish stronghold where a community took their lives rather than give into Rome. After that we take time to swim in the Dead Sea. On the way home we pass through En Gedi and Jericho.
First up we head to the Israel Museum, visit the Shrine of the Book, and then head to the old City of David where we view archaeological sites from the time of Solomon and walk through Hezekiah’s tunnel.
A highlight of our tour today – we visit the old city of Jerusalem, walking over the Temple Mount, visiting the Pool of Bethesda, following the way of the Cross, (the Via Dolorosa – the pathway to the site of the crucifixion). We finish at the Garden Tomb site with a communion service.
This morning we all transfer to Jordon, where we make our way to Amman: some to return to PNG and some to continue their tour with the sites of Jordon.
